Danilo Pereira has been once again linked with a move to Premier League.

The Portuguese defensive midfielder joined Porto in 2015 and has been one of the most influential players for the club ever since.

With the football season in Europe coming to an end, the list of potential suitors for Pereira only seems to grow. According to Correiro da Manha, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United are all interested and prepared to fight to acquire his services for the next season.

With Correiro da Manha reporting, the story does have a bit of weight to it, as they don’t usually report transfer rumours and have left Liverpool out of their story even though they were allegedly scouting Danilo and have been linked elsewehere.

What would Arsenal gain from buying Pereira?

The 25-year-old is once again in great form this season, making 38 appearances, scoring four goals and making one assist but the Portuguese’s influence isn’t really measured in the offensive phase.

Pereira on average makes two tackles, with 2.4 interceptions and 1.4 clearances per game in Liga NOS.

He’s one of the most valuable players at Porto and is a dominating force in their midfield, providing stability for attackers in front and protecting his defenders from opponents pressure.

Porto have tied him to a pretty long contract until the summer of 2022 and the player has a €60m release clause. He would certainly represent an expensive investment.

If he were to join, Arsenal would surely need to offload some of their current players for that position. The ones who would most likely be forced out are Mohamed Elneny or Francis Coquelin, as neither have made an impact this season.
