Robert Pires has admitted that he can understand why the Arsenal fans are so angry this season.

  • Pires won 2 titles & 3 FA Cups under Wenger
  • Agrees that nothing is good enough for fans
  • Understands fan frustration
  • Admits Arsenal have failed main objective

Arsenal have had one of the worst seasons ever under Wenger with the Gunners likely to finish outside the top four for the first time since he took over in 1996.

They’re also probably going to finish below Spurs for the first time since 1995.

Dark times.

The Invincible agrees that nothing seems good enough for Gooners right now. However, he was quick to add that he does understand where they’re coming from as Arsenal have failed to complete their main objective this season.

“I completely agree but I understand it from a fan’s perspective because I myself am a fan of Arsenal,” Pires told bwin.

“I can’t make it clearer, every season there is one main objective, win the Premier League – if we don’t then we’ve failed.

“Of course expectations are high because of the past glory but with increased competition, it’s much more difficult now to win the title.”

Pires still trains regularly at London Colney and is clearly on fantastic terms with Wenger, as well as the club as a whole. Therefore, he does have to be careful what he says.

While he can clearly understand the Arsenal fans’ frustration this season, he’s needs to stay loyal to not only his former manager but his friend.
