Wojciech Szczesny’s agent has said that ‘Napoli could be good destination’ for the goalkeeper when his loan ends with Roma, making a return to Arsenal seem even less likely.

Most here at Cannon Towers would love to see Woj return to Arsenal and take up his number one shirt. He has excelled on loan in Italy over the past two seasons and has been the top goalkeeper across Europe for large parts of this campaign.

With David Ospina likely to leave in the summer and Peter Cech’s star on the wane, it seemed the perfect summer to return to Arsenal.

While no decision has been made about his future, it seems more likely now that he will leave this summer rather than having his contract extended.

It expires next summer.

Previously, the Polish FA had said that Szczesny would not return to Arsenal if Arsene Wenger was still there. Woj denied this, but his agent’s recent comments certainly bring that question back up.

“We must understand first of all how the situation will evolve to Arsenal,” Jonathan Barnett told Radio Crc. “There is also at stake Wenger’s position. On Szczesny there are several teams, but Napoli could be a good destination for him.”
