Arsenal reportedly face competition for Alexandre Lacazette this summer.

  • Make striker ‘primary attacking target’
  • Dortmund search for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang replacement
  • Lack of Champions League football gives Dortmund edge
  • Manchester City, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid also linked

Arsene Wenger, who is yet to announce where he’ll be next season, allegedly still wants to bring Lacazette to north London.

The Lyon striker, who’s scored 30 goals (10 penalties) in 39 appearances for the Ligue 1 club, appeared to be one of Arsenal’s main targets last season with Lyon even claiming that the Gunners had put in a bid, which they turned down.

Rumours then surfaced that Lacazette could be set to sign a contract extension with a €70m release clause, which he refused to sign. His current deal runs out in June 2019.

Now Arsenal look set to return for their man.

However, it seems they have competition.

Dortmund could lose Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the end of the season, with Manchester United reportedly interested in the star. Therefore, the Bundesliga team already have one eye on his replacement, which, according to Bild, is Lacazette.

While the Gunners appear to be keen to sign the Frenchman in case Olivier Giroud, who is reportedly unsettled, or Alexis Sanchez leave, their failure to finish in the top four this season could give Dortmund the advantage.

Here’s why Christopher reckons Lacazette is worth his rumoured £70m price tag.
