Robert Pires was at pains to stress the importance of Arsenal’s upcoming clash with Manchester City, a game that could make or break the rest of their season.
- Le Bob has said he’d like to be Director of Football at Arsenal
- He is a strong supporter of Arsene Wenger and regularly trains at the club
- But even Pires admits it’s ‘not a good moment’ for Arsenal
With Arsenal losing four out of their last five league games, tensions amongst fans are at their highest for the past decade. That’s perhaps unsurprising – it is the club’s worst run of form under Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal welcome City to the Emirates at the weekend knowing that anything other than a win will most likely permanently damage their hopes of yet again securing a top four spot.
“For Arsenal, it is difficult, they are not in a good moment,” Pires told Sky Sports News.
“We lost against Bayern Munich in the Champions League and we lost to West Brom I want to see a good reaction and a good spirit.”
He went on to add that he wants to see “more commitment, more spirit, more fighting,” from Arsenal, sentiments fans will echo.
While results have been poor, what has been even more frustrating for fans has been the lack of applied effort by those wearing the red and white of Arsenal.
The same again this weekend and Pep Guardiola’s men will run riot. As will the Arsenal fans after the game.
