Arsenal have lost two more players ahead of their Premier League match away to West Brom.
Who’s out and who’s potentially able to play against the Baggies on Saturday?
Santi Cazorla (ankle)
The little Spaniard is out for the rest of the season after another operation to close a wound on his ankle so predictably there’s been no further updates.
For obvious reasons, Cazorla won’t be involved in the West Brom match.
Mohamed Elneny (calf)
The midfielder is still out of action with his calf injury but should be returning to training in the next week or two if everything’s going to plan with his recovery and the timescale given (three weeks) is accurate.
He won’t be involved against West Brom.
Danny Welbeck (illness)
The striker was ruled out at the last minute ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League match against Bayern at the Emirates, which he confirmed via social media.
While it may not be the same illness, Mesut Ozil missed out on the trip to Anfield through sickness so it’s probable that Welbz may miss out on West Brom since he wasn’t included in the squad to face Lincoln at the weekend.
Alex Iwobi (illness)
Although Iwobi also missed the Bayern game through sickness, he was on the bench for Arsenal’s FA Cup match against Lincoln and therefore could be well enough to feature against West Brom if he’s needed.
David Ospina (groin)
The goalkeeper was nursing an injury from the Bayern game and therefore missed the chance to face Lincoln in the FA Cup. Petr Cech filled in and since Dave isn’t Arsene Wenger’s first choice for the Premier League shot-stopper anyway, not having him in the squad for West Brom won’t make a huge difference.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (hamstring)
Seeing the Ox limp off against the Imps was a blow. The midfielder has been playing brilliantly lately so to hearing that he’s out with a tight hamstring is a shame.
Wenger claimed after the FA Cup game that it didn’t seem like a “big one”. However, reports are saying that it’s likely he’ll miss out on the trip to the Hawthorns.
