The Wojciech Szczesny to Roma borefest looks set to come to a conclusion with the player signing again on loan for the Italians.
Shocking, I know.
Woj will move in a deal that will apparently see the Italians pay all of his wages, a fee of up to €1m for the pleasure, and have no option to purchase – contrary to what many people believed would happen.
Some media reports had been claiming that Arsenal wanted to sell the Pole but that never seemed to make sense to me, and despite a late move from Everton for his signature, Szczesny will continue his development in Serie A next season.
Szczesny is under contract with Arsenal until 2018 meaning that Arsenal will need to renew with him shortly – and there’s no way he will do that if he doesn’t feel he can take the number one shirt from Petr Cech when it’s time for the Czech to start winding his magnificent career down.
Should that not look like it will happen in the next two seasons, I fully expect to see Woj pushing to leave permanently.
