Zinedine Zidane is said to want Julian Draxler, linked forever with Arsenal, to replace Jese, recently linked with Arsenal, who has now signed for PSG on a five-year deal.
Draxler, as you know, as made no secret of his desire to leave and his club have made no secret of the fact he’s going nowehere.
Yes, he does have a release clause of €75m which was confirmed by Wolfsburg’s sporting director, Klaus Allofs, but it doesn’t come into play until next summer.
Until then? The player looks like he’s going to just have to suck it up in Germany without Champions League football with Allofs even going so far as to call on fans to make sure they don’t give him a hard time.
While Arsenal have been very keen on Draxler for a while now, they don’t actually seem to be that bothered in this window despite the number of reports that are doing the rounds. Could it be because Wenger is listening to Wolfsburg and what they say and the press are not? Perhaps, but we all know clubs lie through their teeth, never more so than at this time of the year.
As for Real Madrid’s interest, well, if it’s real, then Arsenal’s task of getting Draxler at any point just got a whole lot harder.
