With the Arsenal first team players due to start returning to training on Monday, and Euro matches few and far between, news has been scarce.
The big story, of course, was Aaron Ramsey getting two assists as Wales beat Belgium to make the semi-final of the Euros. A once-in-a-lifetime chance for players, I rant about how unfair it is that Ramsey will miss it because of two nothing yellows picked up over five games here if you are in that sort of mood.
One deal has been completed – that of Dan Crowley to Oxford United in League One. It will be his second experience with football at that level and should do him the world of good.
The Ox is back in training at London Colney already, pictured running without strapping or support which is great to see.
On the gossip front, Laurent Koscielny has, apparently, been recommended to Bayern Munich. Doesn’t mean they will get him, but it’s the second big club to pop their head up over the past few days and they need to go away.
The Karim Benzema rumour is back with a vengeance but our French football expert explained why it won’t happen unless Real Madrid sack Zinedine Zidane.
We asked, with the return of Thierry Henry and Tony Adams to the club, what next for Dennis Bergkamp? We also wondered just how much is Olivier Giroud worth in this world of crazy striker prices.
Besiktas are on their way to discuss signing David Ospina, a rumour we’ve been tracking for a while. We want £3.3m, they only want to pay £2.5m. With a market value of about £6m, they’ll need to catch themselves on if they want to get anything sorted.
And finally, as the old news programmes used to close with a light-hearted item to help you forget all the misery you’d just spent half an hour watching, we bring you the same:
