French broadcaster, RMC, has issued Arsenal with a warning regarding their negotiations with Bordeaux over Mathieu Debuchy.

The right-back is reportedly in talks with the Ligue 1 club after spending the second half of last season on loan there. After falling behind Hector Bellerin, the 30-year-old has accepted that it’ll be hard for him to get game time and Bordeaux appear happy to sign him permanently.

However, as RMC pointed out, the French club won’t be willing to pay over the odds for Debuchy, especially given his injury history and age. Therefore, if we’re too ‘greedy’ Bordeaux could end up pulling out and we’ll be left with an unhappy playing and no money at all.

Debuchy’s wages are reportedly in the region of £70,000 a week, which is also said to be a stumbling block. Therefore, if we demand a huge amount of money, it could scare them off.

We originally signed Debuchy for £12m from Newcastle.
