Conflicting reports regarding Wojciech Szczesny’s future have emerged with some claiming he’ll merely extend his loan deal at Roma soon and others insisting that it’s a permanent move.

The goalkeeper enjoyed his loan spell in Serie A last season and, up until this point, the majority of the reports coming from Italy said that he’ll return for another term. Petr Cech is Arsenal’s first choice goalkeeper and that’s not changing; if Woj stays in Italy for a year longer, he can get even more experience and return to us potentially ready to fight for his place.

Everything has pointed to a loan move, despite difficulties arising along the way, with Roma loaning out their goalkeeper, Morgan de Sanctis, to Monaco recently. Football Italia backs this up, claiming that the loan move will be wrapped up in the coming days.

However, Di Marzio is insisting that it’s a permanent deal and that an agreement has all but been reached.

I’m still pretty certain it’ll be just a loan deal…can you imagine the uproar if we suddenly sold Szczesny?
