Rumoured Arsenal target, Djibril Sidibe, has officially signed for Monaco.
On Friday, L’Equipe claimed that Arsenal had tried to intercept the deal for the left-back in order to bring him to north London in a deal worth €15m. However, if we did, we didn’t do a very good job – he’s signed for Monaco after all…on a five-year contract.
The 23-year-old informed the Ligue 1 club’s website that it’s an honour to sign for them and that he’s satisfied with the move.
Whether we genuinely made an offer, I’m not sure. I’m far more likely to believe that we made an inquiry over how set he was on joining Monaco. We have our fingers in a few other pies as far as left-backs are concerned so I doubt we would be putting all our eggs in one basket. It seems we’re in the market for a full-back so we won’t stop there.
