On Tuesday morning, the news that Arsenal could be about to sign Toulouse striker, Wissam Ben Yedder, almost broke Twitter.
What are we supposed to make of the latest striker that we’ve been linked with?
What we know
The report appears to have originated from Canal+’s Ludo Deroin. Like any media outlet, Canal+ isn’t the most reliable source but they also shouldn’t be completely written off either.
Apparently, £8m is enough for us to obtain the 25-year-old, who scored 17 Ligue 1 goals in 35 appearances last season, although Seville are also interested.
Meanwhile, Lyon president, Jean Michel Aulas, who has been quite the chatty Cathy as of late, has also confirmed an interest in the French international.
“We made an offer for him at the beginning of the window,” Aulas said to Foot Mercato.
“He had the chance to leave, he did not leave. I think therefore that puts a number of options into perspective. Ben Yedder can play in several positions, it is therefore normal that we are more interested in him than others.”
Are Lyon hunting for an Alexandre Lacazette replacement?
Canal+ say Arsenal close to deal for Ben Yedder at £8m.
Would only make sense if plan is to now spend most of budget on CB and RW.

What we don’t know
Whether Lyon are actually looking to replace Lacazette.
Whether Arsenal are just trying to pressure Lyon into selling Lacazette.
Whether we’re genuinely interested in Ben Yedder.
Whether he’s the only striker we’re looking at, if we are.
Stay tuned.
