Colombian midfielder, James Rodriguez, speaks very highly of his compatriot, David Ospina.
The goalkeeper, who pulled off a stunning save against Peru, didn’t have the best season at Arsenal. After we bought Petr Cech from Chelsea, there wasn’t much of a chance for regular first team football. He only appeared in the Premier League four times, while Cech was injured.
There’s been plenty of speculation surrounding the 27-year-old’s future at the club, with Besiktas, among others, being linked. However, countryman and brother-in-law, Real Madrid’s Rodriguez, insists that he’s the best.
“He’s a great, I hope he’s here for us many more times,” he said.
“I love him a lot, he knows that. Today and always he’s been there. I think he’s the best.”
Considering Rodriguez plays with Iker Casillas on a regular basis, I’m sure he doesn’t mean Dave is actually the best goalkeeper in the world. He probably just means he’s the ‘best guy’ or some other turn of phrase. However, it’s good to see that someone has his back, even if he’s not good enough to start in goal for Arsenal, he does have a future somewhere.
