Besiktas’ sporting director, Gokhan Keskin, has confirmed that the Turkish club are trying to sign David Ospina.

The goalkeeper has been linked with a move away for a couple of seasons now. He was unhappy with his lack of playing time and this summer, nothing appears to have changed. The Colombian only appeared 12 times in all competitions for Arsenal this season – four in the Premier League – and this is only because Petr Cech was injured.

A sensible man would know that, no matter how ambitious they are, they’re not overtaking Cech in the pecking order. That’s why it looks like Wojciech Szczesny will be spending another season at Roma.

Keskin confirmed on Turkish radio station, Radyospor, that they are trying to get Ospina.

“Nothing has been agreed on yet but we are targeting Ospina.”

The move is likely to happen. The 27-year-old has had itchy feet for a while now and he knows his level. No one could criticise him for wanting to leave.
