Mesut Ozil missed out on training with the German national team according to the DFB’s official Twitter account.
Ozil picked up a problem against Everton on Saturday when John Stones landed on his ankle but it was described as no more than a ‘kick’ by Arsene Wenger. It was said that he would be fine in a few days, and Ozil himself confirmed that.
A statement on the DFB website said that he had remained at the team hotel and added “The Premier League star suffered a knock to his ankle in his Arsenal side’s meeting with Everton on the weekend.”
Hopefully it is simply a precaution and a measure to allow more time for any bruising and swelling to go down.
Bastian Schweinsteiger also missed training with a knee injury and the United man has travelled to Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt’s practice in Munich to undergo an MRI scan.
It’s not yet clear if it is a new problem or a recurrence of the one which kept him sidelined until recently.
In better news for Arsenal, David Ospina has declared himself ‘fine’ and trained with Colombia as normal.
