Pulling up against Hull City on Tuesday night, Aaron Ramsey became the third Arsenal player of the evening to come off with an injury.
The head injury suffered by Per Mertesacker will probably only rule him out until the weekend, the muscle injury suffered by Gabriel was a little more serious but is unlikely to sideline him for weeks.
Aaron Ramsey, though, might not even play again this season. That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim he could be out for six weeks. If the midfielder were to miss six weeks, he would return for the last two Premier League games of the season but wouldn’t be anywhere close to full fitness.
For Ramsey this would be a disaster as he’s an integral part of the Wales team which has managed to qualify for Euro 2016; a first appearance at an international tournament beckons for the midfielder, should he prove his fitness.
With Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Tomas Rosicky already missing, this is the last thing Arsenal needed. Mikel Arteta is back in training but can’t be relied on for regular appearances, leaving us with Francis Coquelin, Mohamed Elneny, Mathieu Flamini, Alex Iwobi and Calum Chambers as centre midfield options.
Hopefully scans reveal Ramsey’s issue isn’t as bad as first feared, but Arsène Wenger didn’t sound optimistic after the game on Tuesday.
