Arsenal left-back Nacho Monreal has put pen to paper and will stay at the club for the foreseeable future.
On Tuesday morning the club have confirmed that Monreal has signed a new long-term deal to extend his Arsenal career. The Spanish defender has been brilliant all season, and deserves the new contract. The 29-year-old is in the form of his career, and tying him down now is brilliant news for Arsenal fans.
Over the course of the last 12 months, after a brief spell at centre-back, Monreal has established himself as one of the best left-backs in Europe and Arsène Wenger’s clear first choice.
Since signing for Malaga in January 2013, the defender has played in 83 Premier League games for the Gunners and made 113 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice, including an unforgettable goal at Old Trafford in last season’s FA Cup quarter-final.
At Daily Cannon we named him player of the month for August and his form hasn’t dipped since. Everyone here is delighted that Nacho will remain an Arsenal player and hope he can keep delivering the sort of performances he’s delivered so far this season.
Rumours linking him with Athletic Club have been persistent but are sure to finally end now.
