Our Daily Cannon player of the month for October is…Mesut Özil. Öbviously.

We’re sure Mesut will be delighted to follow in the footsteps of Nacho Monreal and Theo Walcott, our winners in August and September, after enjoying an incredible run of form.

Before October’s international break, Özil kicked off the start of the month by assisting and scoring within the opening seven minutes. After laying on Alexis’ opener, the German scored to give Arsenal the upper hand on the way to winning 3-0 against Louis van Gaal’s side.

Upon his return from international duty (where he also assisted a goal), Mesut inspired Arsenal to a win at Vicarage Road, assisting the opening two goals against a stubborn defence.

Bayern Munich were next to visit. Manuel Neuer saved from Mesut in the first half but couldn’t repeat his heroics in the second, as our German beat his international teammate to seal a 2-0 win in injury time. Back in the Premier League, he set up Olivier Giroud again to break the deadlock against Everton.

And as the month came to a close, it felt like Arsenal’s winning run could come to an end after the first half at the Liberty Stadium. Once more, Özil delivered a perfect cross for Olivier Giroud to head home the opener before finding Joel Campbell for the 23-year-old to score his first Arsenal goal and seal the win.

One month, five appearances, six assists, two goals, five wins but only one Mesut Özil.
