Arsenal are remaining hopeful that Aaron Ramsey will sign a new contract to stay at the club, despite plenty of interest in the Welsh international as he runs down his contract.

The Mirror write that Arsenal are ‘confident’ Ramsey will sign a new contract with the club. The 27-year-old reportedly has big money offers from Chinese Super League clubs, as well as interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, Lazio and Barcelona, but the Gunners still believe they can keep him.

Unai Emery should at least be able to hold onto the midfielder this summer. Of the clubs mentioned, Chelsea and Manchester United have already passed their transfer deadline, and Lazio’s is later today.

It would hardly be the best financial move to sell to Barcelona when they’re the only club who can make an offer. Nor would it make any sense on the pitch, given Arsenal can’t sign a replacement now.

If the club want to keep Ramsey past the end of his contract, they’re going to have to pay up. The player knows he could get £250,000-a-week if he left as a free agent, so he can push Arsenal to pay something similar to keep him. Hopefully it’s all resolved soon, so we can move onto the next big contract drama.
