Unai Emery and Arsenal aren’t done with their transfer spending just yet, as they’re targeting two more signings before the end of the window, according to reports.

Chris Wheatley of Goal writes that Emery has made the signing of a ‘fast, direct winger’ his priority in the coming weeks. The new head coach also wants a new left-back.

Both signings depend heavily on outgoings though. If Nacho Monreal stays with the club, and Real Sociedad give up the chase, signing a left-back is off the table immediately. Arsenal would similarly have to sell some players before they could spend on a winger.

Wheatley adds that as a result, Arsenal are willing to listen to offers for Monreal, as well as Shkodran Mustafi, Danny Welbeck, Petr Cech, David Ospina, Carl Jenkinson and Lukas Perez.

Although it isn’t mentioned in the Goal report, you’d have to assume a move is also on the cards for Joel Campbell. As usual, he remains the forgotten man at Arsenal.

Signing a pacey winger would surely placate the fans, many of whom still feel this is an area where the current squad is lacking. Last season the team often had to make do with strikers playing out wide, and unless Reiss Nelson suddenly breaks into the starting XI on a regular basis that’s unlikely to change, with the squad as it stands.

Hopefully the club can find buyers for some of the out-of-favour players on the above list.
