Ian Wright has said that Manchester City aren’t as exciting as the Arsenal Invincibles team, believing Arsene Wenger’s title-winners played better football back in 2003/04.

Manchester City have been thrilling to watch this season. They’ve yet to taste defeat in any competition, and continue to win and score goals with style.

Inevitably, there are comparisons with the Arsenal team in 2004 that went the entire season unbeaten, while also playing an exciting, attractive brand of football.

Ian Wright believes City are good, but they’re not yet on the level of that Arsenal team.

“I’m not sure it is the most exciting I’ve ever seen, because there were times when Arsenal’s Invincibles played some really amazing stuff,” Wright told The Sun.

“And I’m not just saying that because of my Arsenal allegiance — but they managed it for a whole season, although they did draw a lot of games as well.”

The more City keep winning, the more realistic an unbeaten season becomes. Wright, though, feels City won’t be focusing on the milestone at all and will take things game by game.

“It will be difficult for City to go unbeaten,” Wright added. “Yet nobody in their dressing room will be thinking about that.

“They will just be concentrating on each game — and next up in the Premier League is the Manchester derby at Old Trafford.”

Arsenal had the opportunity to inflict a defeat upon this City team, but were comfortably beaten at the Etihad Stadium in November. They’ll be relying on Manchester United to put an end to the run at the weekend.

Manchester City have won 14 out of their 15 Premier League matches so far, scoring 46 goals and conceding just 10. The only game they’ve failed to win was a 1-1 draw at home with Everton.

They may not go the whole season unbeaten, but it seems very likely that they’re going to win the title.
