Arsene Wenger is convinced that both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil want to stay at the club.

Both Alexis and Ozil were instrumental in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday.

Their performances were full of quality and effort, which may suggest that they haven’t checked out of Arsenal just yet.

Their contract situations were brought up after the match, where Wenger admitted that wins over Tottenham alone wouldn’t be enough to convince them to stay.

However, he seems convinced that both of them want to stay.

“I am convinced they love the club and love the team, but all the rest will be decided – when? I don’t really know,” said Wenger, as reported by the BBC.

“I believe they love the club and want to stay, but there are other top clubs out there who offer good contracts as well.”

Wenger’s comments portrays the issue as a financial one.

However, most fans will suspect that the reason the two haven’t extended at the club is because they know they won’t win the big trophies with us.

Wenger would have a hard time convincing fans that Alexis wants to stay at Arsenal, given how close he was to joining Manchester City in the summer.

If they really wanted to stay, good contract offers from other clubs shouldn’t be as attractive as they appear to be.

Alexis scored just his second league goal of the season against Tottenham, while Ozil got just his third assist.

The uncertainty around their futures look set to continue for a little while longer.
