Ben Davies says Tottenham need to beat Arsenal and keep picking up the points if they want to have any chance at the Premier League title.

Tottenham sit in third in the Premier League table at the moment, but they’re still eight points off Manchester City at this early stage. Davies says they’re fully focused on trying to pick up all three points at every opportunity now. He explained to the Daily Mail: “My focus is on Arsenal, of course there is no margin for error.

“City are a top side, they have set the benchmark this year and now we have to be on top and clinical in every game. We have to try and keep picking up the points to catch them.”

To be honest, my opinion is that any team that thinks they can catch City is being extremely optimistic. It’s early in the season, but so far the Manchester club have passed every single test they’ve been set, often in far more impressive fashion than they needed to.

The only team that even troubled them was Everton, and that was with 10 men for half of the match. Even then they made a comeback for a draw.

But Davies is right that a loss to Arsenal would make Spurs’ job even more difficult, and prove they aren’t up to the task when the pressure is on. The task for the Gunners is to make those Tottenham concerns a reality, and get their own league season back on track at the same time.
