Arsenal are battling Napoli and Zenit St. Petersburg for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, according to reports.

The 23-year-old hasn’t been a regular for Juventus and has been continually linked away from the Serie A club.

Those links have continued, as according to Calciomercato, Rugani is wanted by Arsenal, Napoli and Zenit St. Petersburg.

The report claims that although Rugani has been involved in Juventus’ league games so far, manager Massimiliano Allegri doesn’t trust him to play in the big games. As such, he was omitted from Juventus’ recent Champions League group stage match against Barcelona, which they lost 4-0.

Rugani came to attention while on loan at Empoli during the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons. He made 81 appearances across both seasons before returning to Juventus.

However, since then he’s only made 44 appearances. The likes of Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Barzagli proved to be strong competition.

Bonucci was sold to AC Milan during the summer transfer window, which may have given Rugani a route into the Juventus first team.

He’s played every minute of Juventus’ three Serie A games so far, and is due to play against Sassuolo on Sunday.
