Arsene Wenger, Antonio Conte, Granit Xhaka and Petr Cech all gave interviews after Arsenal beat Chelsea 4-1 on penalties in the Community Shield.
Wenger had a smile plastered across his face post-match as, while it was technically a friendly, the Community Shield was still a match at Wembley between two London rivals.
The boss was encouraged by the team’s performance against the Blues, and said making the fans happy is the dream.
A glum-looking Conte gave his verdict on Pedro’s straight red card after a tackle on Mohamed Elneny in the second half, a minute before Sead Kolasinac scored Arsenal’s equaliser.
He was annoyed that this was the second time that Chelsea have played against Arsenal at Wembley and been reduced to 10 men, and he believes that the Blues need to work hard before the new season.
Man of the match Xhaka, accompanied by Cech, gave a rather cringe-worthy post-match interview considering the Switzerland international hardly speaks English and most of the interviewer’s ‘jokes’ fell very flat.
When the midfielder was congratulated on winning man of the match, he looked as if he was going to attack the women shaking his hand.
Cech reckons that it’s going to be another competitive season.
