Mesut Özil has been talking about Arsenal’s first signing of the summer, Sead Kolašinac, in a recent interview for the club’s official website.

Kolašinac and Özil have both already joined up with the Gunners for pre-season, so they’ve had their first opportunity to get to know each other on and off the pitch, but Özil revealed to Arsenal.com in his recent interview that he asked around about Sead in advance.

“I’ve spoken to a few players who have played with him at Schalke, like Draxler. They said to me that Sead is a really good player with a character that will fit our team.”

Mesut added that since Sead has joined the squad he’s shown his strength on the pitch and that he’s a good character off it, both of which are positives things for fans to hear before the new season gets underway.

Kolašinac was part of the Bundesliga Team of the Season in 2016/17, and was one of Schalke’s star players, playing a mixture of left-back and left-midfield through the season. This should suit Arsenal’s new formation perfectly, so he should have no problem fitting into the team.

On the other side of things, Özil said he was more than happy to assist with any problems Sead has settling in: “As a new player, you want to know about where you can live, what you can do, which restaurants are good. If he has any questions, my door is always open to him.

Hopefully the rest of the squad will have a similar approach and the Bosnian will soon feel right at home.
