Having been linked with Giroud on Italian radio earlier in the week, Everton fans have started to get excited about the possibility of his signature.

As reported by ESPN, the Everton scout Carlo Jacomuzzi reportedly told Italian radio: “I think Everton are today going to finalise a deal for Giroud for £20 million.”

It’s worth noting at this point that the above quote is pretty much the only source of the rumours, while Giroud has been telling the Arsenal podcast that he wants to stay and win trophies.

However, with the arrival of Lacazette now confirmed, Giroud may find himself considering his options with the 2018 World Cup on the horizon. He’s currently starting for France but not for Arsenal and manager Didier Deschamps could replace him if he’s not getting the neccessary minutes.

From an Arsenal point of view, it would be a shame to lose Giroud’s goals which came so consistently from the bench last season. It could potentially come back to bite the club if they had to face up against him in Everton blue next season.
