Arsenal are one of four clubs interested in signing Thomas Muller.

  • German reports claim Muller’s Bayern position is under threat after James Rodriguez signing
  • Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are all interested in the German
  • Ancelotti has said Muller is not leaving

The summer isn’t complete without at least one crazy and unrealistic transfer rumour. Sport Bild have the honour of revealing this summer’s crazy rumour, as they claim Arsenal and others are in for Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller.

The basis of the report seems to be that Bayern’s signing of James Rodriguez could mean that Muller drops out of the starting eleven. As such, there could be an opening for the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United to try and sign the player.

Bayern manager Carlo Ancelotti, though, was very clear that Rodriguez’s arrival will not result in players leaving. “Of course we didn’t buy James to replace Thomas Muller,” he said.

“If you think this way you can think he will replace Thiago (Alcantara) because he can play in the centre. We didn’t buy James to replace anyone. We bought James to add to the team. He is a good player. I know about his quality and his personality. I think he can help us.”

Crazy things can happen during a transfer window, but I daresay Muller rocking up at Arsenal won’t be one of them.
