Arsene Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis were pictured in France over the weekend.

  • Wenger and Gazidis were in Nice
  • Arsenal have been linked with several French players, notably Mbappe
  • Thomas Lemar and Jean Seri could also be targets

The picture of Wenger and Gazidis at an airport in Nice resulted in plenty of speculation about the purpose of their visit.

With stories of bids being for Kylian Mbappe, many believed that the pair were there to meet with Monaco representatives. Monaco is only a short drive away from Nice.

However, The Telegraph have offered up two alternative reasons: Monaco’s Thomas Lemar and Nice’s Jean Michael Seri.

Lemar has been frequently linked with Arsenal, though with all this Mbappe news his name has dropped under the radar.

Jean Michael Seri is a lesser-known name still. The Ivorian had a great season in the heart of Nice’s midfield as they challenge for the Ligue 1 title.

With concerns over the fitness of Santi Cazorla, Arsenal could be looking for a central midfielder to compete with Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey.

Whoever Arsenal are targeting, it seems a lot of transfer business will be focused in France this summer.
