Arsenal have begun talks over a new contract for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

  • Arsenal have reportedly opened talks with Chamberlain over a new deal
  • Reports earlier this month indicated that talks were already underway
  • Chamberlain has 12 months remaining on his current contract

Chamberlain has 12 months remaining on his current contract and has been waiting for Arsenal to contact him.

According to The Sun, Arsenal have now initiated talks that would see the Englishman extend his stay at the Emirates and earn more than £100k-per-week.

This in spite of the fact that talks were supposed to have begun way back at the start of June, at least according to ESPN.

It’d be very worrying if talks weren’t underway already given Chamberlain has been linked with the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City recently.

It’s unclear how much of the interest is genuine and how much of it has come from Chamberlain’s agent in an attempt to force Arsenal’s hand.

With so much uncertainty surrounding the futures of several Arsenal players, Arsenal will want this one wrapped up as quickly as possible.
