Arsene Wenger’s future at Arsenal is still uncertain and reports claim the board are split over how to move forward.

It’s highly possible that the 67-year-old will sign a contract extension in the coming weeks. According to an exclusive in the Daily Star, Stan Kroenke remains a fan of the Frenchman despite Wenger losing some support from board members at the Emirates.

Kroenke is the club’s largest shareholder with 67% of the club and as a result, a new two-year deal has been talked about recently. Instability is a potential issue, especially with the divide in opinion of club directors. Some feel it’s time for Wenger to leave, others feel as though there is not an effective forward plan in place for him to depart yet.

Alisher Usmanov’s £1billion bid to buy-out Kroenke proved unsuccessful, weeks after his comments about why Wenger shouldn’t be solely to blame for the team’s shortcomings.

Instead he feels as though the majority of the blame should be on Kroenke as the club’s majority shareholder but the American billionaire is keeping tight-lipped about the club’s current situation and future, instead only focusing on his best interests at present.

This has unsurprisingly caused further tension and disapproval among Arsenal supporters, though many have speculated that Wenger will sign a new extension after Saturday’s FA Cup Final regardless of the result.

If Arsenal had already prepared a replacement for him, they would have at least announced the situation by now and given him a proper send-off this past weekend.

Instead, confusion and frustration are the common themes once more.
