According to L’Equipe, Arsene Wenger, who’s rumoured to be extending his current Arsenal deal past this summer, has huge plans for next season.

After the boss has faced a massive backlash from fans with many not taking the news that he might extend very well, the French outlet claims that Wenger is ready and willing to embark on an ‘unprecedented recruitment effort’ over the summer.

Apparently, this means that he’s going to flex the club’s financial muscle and spend.

It’s hard to take claims like this seriously because they pop up every year. Every single season is supposed to be the one where Wenger really spends and the thing is, he has spent. Last summer, he bought Granit Xhaka, Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi for a combined £82m and the team still looks weak.

As exciting as splashing the cash sounds and the team would surely benefit from one or two massive marquee signings, it’s hard to get behind it when you don’t see it truly happening.

I’ll believe it when I see.
