It appears that Sporting want three times as much as Arsenal are willing to offer for their goalkeeper, Rui Patricio.

  • Patricio has until June 2022 on his Sporting contract
  • The 29-year-old has kept 10 clean sheets in 24 Liga NOS appearances this season
  • The goalkeeper has been capped 56 times for Portugal

According to Record in Portugal, the 29-year-old international, who we reported on on Wednesday, has a whopping €45m release clause in his contract and while these clauses aren’t always set in stone if both sides are willing to negotiate, Arsenal’s supposed valuable of €15m is well below what the Portuguese side are willing to accept.

What’s more is that Patricio is allegedly happy with Sporting and will only leave for first team football at a top club.

With Petr Cech’s career winding down, the Gunners are lining up their next no.1 and while this should fall on Wojciech Szczesny’s shoulders, the Poland international apparently isn’t willing to return to north London if Arsene Wenger remains at the club.
