Danny Welbeck has confirmed what we all suspected – that Sutton United’s plastic pitch and Welbz’s knees would not make good bedfellows.
People were surprised to see Danny named in the starting lineup for the u23s as they faced Leicester on Sunday, but common sense soon took hold as people realised just what could happen if he was pushed too hard on the Gander Green Lane pitch.
Taking to Twitter after the match, which the youngsters lost 2-1, Welbeck said
Glad to get 70 minutes today to build up my match fitness. Plastic pitch at Sutton isn't the best idea at the moment. #COYG

The Gunners found themselves two-goals down by the 52nd minute and although Ben Sheaf was able to pull one back in the 88th minute, Arsenal could not find a leveller in the final few minutes of the game.
