During the week, reports began to circulate that Mesut Ozil has finally agreed a new deal with Arsenal.

The playmaker is claimed to have signed a deal in which he earns £200,000 a week. At the very least £50,000 more, depending on what source you choose to believe, than on his current wage.

This means that he not only remains Arsenal’s biggest earning player, but he blows all the others out the water. No wonder it seems that Alexis’ team are stalling, eh?

The thing is, I don’t see a single person complaining about us handing the German international this much money and I’m pretty glad about that.

Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas is currently reportedly on £170,000 a week. He has a similar role at our London rivals’ to Ozil’s except the Spaniard is considerably less important to the Blues than our playmaker is to us. In fact, he’s been struggling to get game time and still earns more than what Ozil does at the moment.

Saying this, the same source claims Ozil is already on £190,000 a week, which doesn’t seem right.

Regardless, Ozil should earn however much he wants. I don’t care what we have to throw at him, he has to stay. Not only does he add that extra bit of style of our squad just by being on the pitch but what he signifies, a different Arsenal, is so, so, important.
