Theo Walcott insists that he doesn’t even look at the Premier League table to keep track of where our title rivals are.

The forward, who scored another brace against Swansea on Saturday during our 3-2 win, claims that he only concentrates on Arsenal and nobody else.

“I don’t look at the table. I genuinely don’t,” the 27-year-old said.

“I feel all we can do is control ourselves and not really hope that other teams get results on our behalf. We can only control ourselves, if we play well we win games and that’s all we can do.

“We’ve been in this situation (top of the table) before. We started off this season before than we have recently. There’s always some sort of blip but hopefully we’re not going to have that this year.

“With the squad we have, if we keep players fit, with players coming back, then who knows… You can’t really call the Premier League this year. It’s so unpredictable.”

While this is a nice sentiment and a good attitude that I’m sure Arsene Wenger has urged the entire squad to have, I find it hard to believe that they don’t at least hear about the table from friends. Just because they don’t physically look at the table themselves doesn’t mean they don’t know what’s going on. You’d have to. Maybe not at this early stage of the season but later on.

Saying all this, not paying attention to other results, even when they go our way like Saturday with Spurs and Manchester City both drawing, can only be a good thing for this particular squad.

Concentrate on our own form and winning our games. That’s all we can do.
