The odds on Sergio Aguero signing for Arsenal have been slashed.

Since reporting that Arsenal, Spurs, Juventus and PSG are monitoring Aguero’s situation at Manchester City, odds have been slashed for the striker to make a ‘shock move’ to north London.

According to the Express, Ladbrokes have reduced the odds on the Argentine international moving to Arsenal from 16/1 to 6/1.

Right, let’s hold up a second here.

As we’ve already said, Aguero won’t be coming to Arsenal. That doesn’t mean to say we don’t really, really want him. But let’s look at the facts here.

PSG are rumoured to be willing to pay €90m for the 28-year-old who has three years left on his existing contract at Manchester City.

Arsenal probably have more chance of winning the Champions League without him than paying that much for one player.

We also have his wages. Aguero reportedly earns £204,700 a week. Far, far more than any other player at Arsenal earns.

Arsenal are also Manchester City’s rivals, which may mean he doesn’t want to stay in the Premier League. Although I’m not sure how deep his loyalty for the Blues runs, I don’t think they would sell to us.

Add to all of this the fact that Pep Guardiola seems pretty set on keeping him and I can safely say that Aguero won’t be coming to Arsenal.

And I hate myself for even dreaming that he could.
