Arsenal and Manchester United are reportedly interested in Benfica right-back, Nelson Semedo, who just so happens to have a £40m release clause.
According to the Daily Star, who used to have some credibility when it came to Arsenal transfers but not so much any more, the Gunners are monitoring the 22-year-old’s situation at the Portuguese club in case we need to replace Hector Bellerin.
Seems legit. Not.
Considering the fact that I don’t personally believe that Hector Bellerin is going anywhere since he seems happy and Arsene Wenger wants to tie him down to a new contract in north London, I highly doubt we’ll be looking for a replacement any time soon. Especially to the tune of £40m. Do me a favour.
Manchester United are being linked by Portuguese outlet, O Jogo, and their connection plus amount of money they’re willing to part with make far more sense.
Semedo is highly rated (aren’t they all?) and has made 13 appearances for Benfica already this season. He’s a huge part of their starting XI so I’m not surprised they won’t let him go for pennies.
