L’Equipe in France are reporting that Francis Coquelin will not be ruled out for the rest of the calendar year as had been speculated and could be back in as little as 15 days after tests showed the injury was not as bad as first feared.

Pictured at Highgate Hospital in a brace, it looked ominous for the Frenchman after he injured his knee against Chelsea in the first half on Saturday with people immediately claiming that he had ruptured ligaments in his knee, a fear Arsenal were said to hold as well.

But now, although L’Euqipe do not specify what the problem is, they do say that he should be back in action after 15 days ‘rest’.

It’s like a Christmas miracle.

Well, Granit Xhaka probably doesn’t think so, but you know what I mean.

How often do we have injuries which seem innocuous only for them to end a player’s season?

Seems only fair we should get a few injuries that go the opposite way.

That’s how it works, right?
