Theo Walcott could actually turn down Liverpool in order to stay and fight for a place at Arsenal.

The forward was heavily linked with a £25m move to the Merseyside club recently but, according to the Telegraph, the 27-year-old wants to stay and fight for a place at Arsenal.

Although I’ve always liked Theo, if this has true, my respect for him has shot up. He could easily move and take what would probably be a bigger wage at Liverpool but staying to fight after falling down the pecking order dramatically, it takes guts.

The issue is, would Arsenal give him this chance? I have no doubt that Arsene Wenger himself would prefer Theo to stay, we don’t necessarily need the £25m after all, but whether the club as a whole could turn the money down is another issue. If Danny Welbeck wasn’t injured, it might be a different story and we might have sold him already but, as it stands, it looks like Theo is staying.
