On Tuesday, reports emerged linking Calum Chambers to fellow London club, Watford; the claims have since been shot down.

The youngster, who’s found it almost impossible to get game time since signing from Southampton two years ago, has been linked with a loan move to the Hornets. The versatile defender admitted recently that he would like more time on the pitch but, right now, he’s not focusing on next season.

Since the claims emerged, the London Evening Standard is reporting that Arsenal have shot down these rumours and that no deal is currently in place with any team – Watford or otherwise- for the 21-year-old.

Chambers is a tricky one because I think he’s been largely misunderstood and underused at Arsenal. He’s far from this bumbling deer in the headlights that people seem to think he is and, in many cases, it would have been interesting to see him used instead of Gabriel last season. If we loan him out, I don’t see us ever seeing him in an Arsenal shirt again and we will have missed a trick.
