Speaking recently, Manchester United’s Ander Herrera criticised Mesut Ozil for not being consistent enough but did admit it’s a shame that Santi Cazorla is injured.
The midfielder, who doesn’t appear to shy away from making controversial statements, reckons that Arsenal are full of confidence this season, which could make us formidable opponents. However, his comments about Ozil weren’t nearly as glowing.
“Arsenal have Francis Coquelin, Ozil… [But] Mesut isn’t so consistent, although he makes the difference when he’s on his day,” he said.
“It’s a pity that Cazorlita will not be there, as he always makes the difference.”
I’m not entirely sure whether Herrera has actually watched Ozil play this season, considering he’s actually one of our more consistent players. He’s been huge for us, having provided 17 assists in the Premier League. Without looking as if he does much, the playmaker is massive for the team.
In addition, Cazorla has been out for months and although he’s amazing, before he got injured he wasn’t quite at his best for a while – another indicator that Herrera doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
Anyone that can honestly say Ozil isn’t good enough clearly hasn’t been paying attention and I sincerely hope the German shows Herrera and Manchester United just how consistent he can be on Sunday.
