We may have the small matter of Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday but, let’s face it, we all have one eye on next week and the game at White Hart Lane.
With only goal difference separating the sides at the minute, the game could not be better poised for being absolutely massive. A win for either side will not only ensure that table-toppers, Leicester, don’t get the chance to stretch their lead again, but also put distance between the most fiercest of rivals.
With the game starting to register on the minds of the players involved, despite it not being the most pressing engagement, Érik Lamela was speaking to the press in Chile about Alexis, who has been struggling for form since his return from his hamstring injury.
The Argentine said “They [Chile] are a very strong team, but we have a rematch after the Copa America. Hopefully we can beat them.
“Yes [we want revenge].
“We lost a final that we could have won. I do not know if you call it revenge, but we want to beat them in the next game.
“Everyone knows the kind of player that Alexis is, and what he can give. I’m not surprised.”
Lamela arrived at Tottenham in 2013 in a mega deal that also, weirdly, seemed to mark him immune to being called a ‘flop’ despite being absolutely pants for the first two years in England.
A snide little tit of a player, he seems to be finally finding his feet which is annoying.
Let’s hope he remembers to stay on them next week.
