Former Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has completed his first full training session for Olympique Marseille.

The Frenchman returned to Ligue 1 back in July but has had to wait until now to finally approach full fitness. Throughout his time at Arsenal, Diaby was hampered by injuries and it was hoped that a move back to France would help him rediscover his fitness and his form.

Thankfully, he does now look close to a return to the pitch and we couldn’t be happier for him. Despite featuring in five u21 games last season, Diaby managed just 66 minutes for the first team in a League Cup appearance against Southampton back in September. The talented midfielder hasn’t managed 20 appearances in a season since 2010/11 but we are all hoping his move at Marseille works out and allows him to play much more regularly.

It’s fantastic to see him training and hopefully he’s back on the pitch soon.
