Hector Bellerin is happy to have grabbed his first assist of the season against Singapore Select XI on Wednesday.

Speaking to Arsenal Player after the 4-0 win in the Barclays Asia Trophy, the right-back went into how hard the team have been training to get to peak fitness as soon as possible. He was also happy the squad have picked up where they left off last season and got straight back to winning ways. The defender also mentioned Chuba Akpom’s hattrick and praised the forward’s performance.

“We have trained really hard over the past two weeks and the team is looking really good. We showed it in the game,” he said.

He continued, “The team has the same feeling as last season, we have been involving the young players and they showed great talent to score goals and do well.”

The 20-year-old took to Twitter to congratulate his teammate, Akpom, on his hattrick. However, he also wanted to give the striker a special mention in his post-match interview, saying, “It is nice for Chuba to get a hat-trick and definitely nice for me to get an assist in the first game, but the whole team played really well. I am happy for Chuba to score a hat-trick in his first game in pre-season.”

Bellerin came on in the 72nd minute v Singapore Select XI in order to provide the assist for Akpom’s third goal of the match, earning him a hattrick and Arsenal a 4-0 win over their opposition.
