At Arsenal’s FA Cup victory parade, Theo Walcott got a chance to shed some light on his contract negotiations.

The issue of Walcott’s new contract is something of a hot topic right now and it was predicable that he’d be quizzed on it at some point during the celebrations.

Speaking frankly on top of the bus as it toured the local area, the forward said, “I am sure things will get resolved. I just want to enjoy today. I have got England coming up and then we can think about that process, but it will take time, I am sure.”

Although he seemed dismissive, this will likely be down to playing his cards close to his chest under the instruction of his agent. I truly believe Walcott wants to stay at Arsenal and the club also wants to keep him. During other questions, he was full of hope for the future of the team and included himself in future plans when talking about seasons to come. There’s no reason for him to want to leave and no reason for us to want to sell him.

As ever, there seems to be a sticking point when it comes to money, although this is strictly speculation on my part.

As Walcott said, I’m sure it’ll get resolved.
