Arsenal are close to agreeing a deal with Theo Walcott according to a report in the Sun [£].

In the piece on their site they give very little information beyond saying that he has held ‘successful talks’ with Arsenal and is set to agree a new deal ahead of reclaiming his spot with England.

Rather randomly, in the middle of the piece, they say

‘The winger, who has one year left on his current deal, is keen to remain at the North London club. Arsenal are also set to make a firm move for Chelsea keeper Petr Cech next week as boss Arsene Wenger’s squad for next season takes shape.’

They then carry on talking some more about Theo and England. Quite why that bit about Cech has been thrown into a piece about Theo is anyone’s guess.

I think most of us know that the club and player will come to an agreement eventually so this is hardly breaking news and given that the Sun bring nothing substantial to the table, it’s not that much to be getting excited about really.

As for how they know Arsenal are going to move next week for Cech? Who the hell knows.

Time will tell on both fronts, I guess.
