Jack Wilshere is set to be fined by the FA after he was charged on Wednesday after Sunday’s antics.

You win a trophy, you celebrate with your fans, and you taunt your rivals with a couple of chants…

Seems fine to me, but is worthy of a fine according to the FA.

Jack Wilshere stole the microphone, the show and the headlines at Sunday’s trophy parade and his actions have landed him in hot water.

As I’m sure you’re now aware Wilshere politely asked the Arsenal fans present for their views on north London rivals Tottenham.

He, again politely,  then asked another question (expletive included) before encouraging Arsenal fans to sing that they hated Tottenham.

Charged

Despite apologising Wilshere was charged by the FA, who released a statement:

“Jack Wilshere has been charged with misconduct in relation to Arsenal’s FA Cup celebrations on Sunday 31 May 2015.

“It is alleged his conduct in making and/or inciting certain comments during the club’s open bus trophy tour was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute.

“The player has until 6pm on 10 June 2015 to respond to the charge.”

Petty

Looking down on Jack Wilshere for such behaviour is reasonable – he is a professional and perhaps he should act a bit more like one?

Of course this would get under the skin of Tottenham fans, but what’s the big deal?

There were no Tottenham fans present so I’m not entirely sure what he was inciting. The chant is sung at every Arsenal game – it doesn’t make people livid, it doesn’t contribute to hooliganism or inspire a deeper hatred of our rivals.

Surely the FA have more important matters to deal with?

Encore

In hindsight Wilshere may wish he had conducted himself differently.

Then again, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him do the same again in 12 months time.

I hope we see that happen.
