Sunderland and Arsenal have agreed a deal that will see Carl Jenkinson spend next season on loan at the Stadium of Light.

The report, in the Mirror, claims that the Black Cats have agreed to pay the £1.5m Arsenal were requesting (it had previously been reported as £2m) for the loan deal and there will be NO option to purchase at the end of the season with Arsene Wenger wanting Jenks for the long-term at the club.

Spending a successful season on loan with West Ham last season, the Hammers had been keen to extend the deal but were put off by the rather large fee that Arsenal were asking for.

It’s worth noting that it does seems as if the deal is not quite official and Southampton are also said to be interested due to Liverpool’s interest in Nathaniel Clyne.

Given that an agreement is said to have been reached and Sunderland have agreed to the fee, it’s hard to know quite what is still going on in negotiations which are still said to be ongoing.
